National Park “Pirin”

National Park “Pirin” is one of the most remarkable natural treasures of Bulgaria and part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage. Located in the southwest of the country, it encompasses impressive alpine peaks, deep valleys, glacial lakes and centuries-old forests. The park is home to a rich biodiversity, including rare plant and animal species.
What to see?
• Vihren (2914 m)— the highest peak of Pirin and the second highest in Bulgaria.
• Glacial lakes— Banderishki, Vasilashki and Popov lakes are among the most picturesque in the region.
• The Edelweiss and the Black Mura— rare and protected plant species that can only be seen in this area.

• The best time to visit is between June and September, when the conditions for tourism are most favorable.
• Wear comfortable hiking shoes and warm clothes, even in summer the temperatures in the mountains can drop significantly.
